Singapore has a new reason for a stopover or even an excuse to leave the airport for a few hours between flights with the opening last week of the National Gallery of Singapore.
The gallery houses more than 8000 works from the 19th and 20th centuries, and is now the world's largest collection of Southeast Asian art.
Located in a fabulous historic building which was once home to the Supreme Court and City Hall, the gallery joins the Singapore Art Museum, the National Museum of Singapore and the Singapore Pinacotheque de Paris and the Gillman Barracks (home to 11 international art galleries, three restaurants and the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art) as destinations for art and culture lovers.
