If you enjoy Wellington's innovative Te Papa, make a point of visiting the new Melbourne Museum, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
The six-level museum features state-of-the-art interactive exhibitions, live performances, a colourful cube structure which houses the children's section, and the preserved body of the famous race horse Phar Lap.
One of several blockbuster exhibitions, the fascinating and controversial Body Art, is on until next February.
The museum is in the Carlton Gardens alongside the Royal Exhibition Building.
