Natural glow in Waitomo

For more than a century, millions of people have enjoyed exploring the Waitomo Caves and their glow-worm display.

Scenic native bush tracks surround the caves, offering walks of different lengths, after which you can sample the refreshments at the 100-seat cafe and browse the souvenir store.

Prices begin at $24 for an adult to explore one cave, or $40 to visit the Glow-worm and Aranui Caves. Family concessions start at around $42.

The Glow-worm Caves are open every day and tours depart every half-hour.

Tours to the Aranui Cave depart five times a day. The early or late tours are the less crowded.
