But when the woman's seat mate arrived, Rosey realised her joke may have been more accurate than she thought.
And so began probably the most well-documented meeting between two strangers ever, with Rosey providing minute-by-minute updates on the mystery couple's budding romance.
The posts quickly gained a lot of attention and people were captivated by this mid-air love story.
The mystery man was later found to be 30-year-old former professional soccer player Euan Holden, who has revealed to Today in the US how he feels about his mystery woman.
"She's a very, very, very lovely girl. Very attractive, beautiful. She has a lot to say for herself and is very intelligent," Euan said.
"From the moment we buckled our seatbelts to the moment we touched down on the ground the conversation took off."
The woman at the centre of the story seems to be understandably wary of all the attention. The only thing we know about her is that her name is Helen.
But Euan doesn't seem to have the same reservations as his new love interest.
Since the post went viral he added his new nickname, Plane Bae, to his Twitter and Instagram bio and has started adding plane and heart emojis to all of his tweets.
He has also started using the hashtag "CatchFlightsANDFeelings" and made a not-so-subtle hint about wanting to be on The Ellen Show.
Thankfully all of the attention doesn't seem to have diminished the flame that is Euan and Helen's undying love, with Euan saying they have been in contact and have plans to meet up again.
People are obviously thrilled about this new information and even Euan's brother, former US national team soccer player Stu Holden, has weighed in on the budding romance.
While we all wait anxiously for more updates, let me leave you with a few of Rosey's best tweets about the couple's first meeting.
