What was your greatest holiday?
Bolivia. Making music and chatting up llamas.

And the worst?
Portugal. Almost getting mugged and by chance starring in a TV commercial for a Polish mobile phone company.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?
Looking like I forgot to get dressed and eating a lot of carbohydrates.

If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
I don't know New Zealand at all so anywhere you'd suggest is good with me.

How about for a dream holiday internationally?
I feel drawn to Iceland.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
In Nepal, they wash their bums after the job is done in the loo - I picked up the wrong container on my way in, it was petrol!

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
When you get into danger, act more crazy than they do, it worked in Portugal, where I "almost" got mugged. My uncle gave me that advice, he's a horse whisperer.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
I hitched and busked around Europe when I was in my 20s and got stuck in a truck stop in Bremen, Germany. After two days I ran out of money. A guy bought me a freshly baked loaf of fruit-and-nut bread. "Hunger is the best pickle."

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
The lessons learned, one of the biggest being to trust my intuition every time.

Favourite airport at which to land?
JFK - the excitement of New York begins there for me.

What's the next trip you've got planned?
I'm going to Paris for a couple of nights and plan on going to Montmartre at 5am before the rest of the tourists get there.
