What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
When you get into danger, act more crazy than they do, it worked in Portugal, where I "almost" got mugged. My uncle gave me that advice, he's a horse whisperer.
What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
I hitched and busked around Europe when I was in my 20s and got stuck in a truck stop in Bremen, Germany. After two days I ran out of money. A guy bought me a freshly baked loaf of fruit-and-nut bread. "Hunger is the best pickle."
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
The lessons learned, one of the biggest being to trust my intuition every time.
Favourite airport at which to land?
JFK - the excitement of New York begins there for me.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
I'm going to Paris for a couple of nights and plan on going to Montmartre at 5am before the rest of the tourists get there.
