The best holiday I've ever had was... Last year's mid-winter break at Lake Rotoiti. We allowed ourselves one fancy day in Rotorua and spent the rest of the time lolling about in hot rivers, kayaking to remote 70s-style hot pools, visiting waterfalls, crashing through the bush to find "secret location" hot baths and eating fish and chips.
And the worst was... A family trip to Samoa when my eldest was three and youngest two months. It was my bright idea to have a relaxing budget island getaway, fales, warm water, great food etc. It was about as unrelaxing as a holiday gets. The three-year-old developed tonsillitis, and my baby was hot and cranky and cried constantly.
With endless time and money I'm off to... New York, to be dazzled by the art and culture then a luxurious jaunt around Europe. I'd like to do a research project into the most innovative physical theatre companies and return with company members to collaborate and make new work.
The best travel advice I have is... Eat the food, talk to people, be alone sometimes, seek out local music, theatre and art, climb something to get a better perspective.
I never leave home without... Spare contact lenses, a journal and my iPhone.
