I crewed on board an all-female yacht during Antigua Race Week.

What was your greatest holiday?

I crewed on board an all-female yacht during Antigua Race Week. We were one of two female crews vs the 200 male ones! It was so much fun racing around the beautiful Caribbean islands and every night sailing into a new gorgeous bay to the sound of the steel drum bands playing and rum punch flowing.

And the worst? A five-day sailing holiday around Fiji. I declined the Sea Legs - "no thanks, I don't get seasick" - and spent most of the trip throwing up over the back of the boat.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing? I'll most likely be in, on, or under the water. Anything water-based and I'm happy.

If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be? Whangapoua Beach, Coromandel. I grew up there and my family built the first bach (they paid for it in GBP back then!) so it always pulls me back.

How about for a dream holiday internationally?

One day, I'd love to go on a gorilla trek in Uganda.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling? When I finished high school, my mum gave me a one way ticket to Australia and $400. I spent the money within days and ended up hitch-hiking around Australia. One ride was a bit hairy, I hopped in with a truckie who drove at lightning speed, drinking vodka from a bottle and listening to Meatloaf at full volume. I was beyond relieved when I made it to Melbourne unharmed, 8 hours later! (hope mum doesn't read this).

The loves of my life, my fiance Trent and our beautiful daughter, Indii. With them, travel has taken on a whole new meaning.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?

For your economy flight, take all the comforts of first class - comfy blanket, eye mask, ear plugs and a pillow. It's so worth it.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling? Beautiful tagine I made with a lovely Berber family in Morocco. We picked the dates from a nearby oasis and spent hours making it in their outdoor kitchen. It was tricky to make but the setting, the generous hosts and the flavours made it so memorable!

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip? My baby! She was born in Bali.

Favourite airport to land at?

Lukla airport up Mt Everest for its extreme setting carved out of the side of a mountain 2800 ft high. It's classed as the most extreme and dangerous airport in the world.

What's the next trip you've got planned?

We are about to head off on a boating holiday to the Barrier then the Mercury Islands. Nothing beats NZ summer adventures.
