My holidays: Janine Burchett

Actor Janine Burchett admires the attractions on her travels but is always tempted to try food she hasn't tasted before.

What was your greatest holiday?

Travelling the Cote D'Azur after the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Not much money, but watching fabulous art house movies, eating wonderfully and laughing my head off with my girlfriend.

And the worst?

A short break in the Marlborough Sounds with my boyfriend. He assured me the weather was looking good ... right up until a water taxi came through a storm at night to take me from our stranded yacht for me to get the last ferry back to Wellington, for a voice job, in 6m swells. Yuck.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

Eating.

If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?

Queenstown.

How about for a dream holiday internationally?

We went to a gorgeous island in Fiji, Vomo, a couple of years ago. Loved that. But perhaps an isolated - but luxurious - Greek island.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?

I delayed a long-haul flight after being upgraded to First. Not popular with the crew.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?

Wiggle your toes (on the plane).

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?

An unexpected dinner with the last of our money with my husband-to-be on a gorgeous open-air terrace in a village perche in Provence - eating truffle oil paste and drinking the local vintage.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

Coral.

Favourite airport to land at?

Hong Kong's good ... nice lounges.

What's the next trip you've got planned?

Family skiing in Queenstown. I love the Queenstown part. Skiing is more so the kids don't leave me in the cafe.
