At the beach, playing Kubb which is an old Viking game where you try to knock the other team's blocks over. Or bodyboarding or trying to get someone to play cricket.
What's your dream destination?
I'd love to go to Scandinavia and see the Northern Lights.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
Declare my undying love to a German girl in the class when I was billeted in Berlin, having never spoken anything other than a monosyllable to her.
What will you always have in your hand luggage?
My wallet, passport, and maybe my Nana's lucky tiki or some other charm of protection.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without...
Erm... my toothbrush
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
My stars-and-moons jacket that I was given by some monks in North Carolina. They had a place called the boutique that was set up as a as a kind of free-for-all - where monks leave clothes they don't want once they take their vows and resign to wearing only one colour. I was on retreat there. I have used it so many times since for all sorts of things, dress-up parties, poetry recitals, even audition photos.
Favourite airport to land at?
Hmm... I don't like airports much. I always used to get searched at Customs because I grow stubble quickly and look suspicious or something. I remember once they searched my bag and found my shoes were dirty from hiking, so they cleaned them for me just in case I brought any bad bacteria with me back into the country.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
I can't think of anything on the near horizon. Possibly Liverpool and Portugal, if I can save up enough money to go. My girlfriend loves to travel and is going there for a friend's wedding.
