If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
Bay of Plenty sounds right up our street. But that better not be false advertising, or we'll be royally pissed.
How about for a dream holiday internationally?
International to you, or to us, eh? If it's international to you, we couldn't pick a better, more temperate, relaxing, stunning, vibrant, diverse and breathtaking city than Uxbridge, Middlesex. But if we're talking international to us, then I guess Rome would have to do.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
Crossing a busy street during an icy snowy wintry January in New York, Mannish spotted a very interesting advertising billboard and pointed it out to Frisky with a rather unnecessary urgent tone of voice - "OH MY GOD LOOK!" Frisky, turning quickly in surprise, slipped on a snowdrift and stacked it right on her face.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...
... at least the bare camping essentials (hairdryer, hair styling products, hairdresser, portable mini-fridge, five types of whiskey, an iPad each, a chihuahua to look at, and a five-door hatchback with chauffeur who doubles as masseur.)
What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
Don't fall in the sea.
What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
It's the airplane food that really pleases us. Everything tastes better when you're mile high and eating from a compartmentalised tray. And certain airlines let you have as much booze as you want - a couple of times, we have turned up to international gigs absolutely bladdered (although of course we'll be utmost professionals in Auckland, ahem.)
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
Well, it certainly wasn't gastroenteritis (thanks, Melbourne). Honestly, we're gonna have to be sincere for a moment and say the best thing we've brought back is all the lovely memories of good times, laughter, love and joy.
Favourite airport to land at?
It's got to be Singapore Changi, not just because it's the funniest one to say in the voice of Maggie Smith (try it, pretending to be a posh, pinched old lady), but also because it has everything you need - a spa where fish nibble dead skin off your feet, a long-haired man who plays Adele covers on the piano, an entire indoor rainforest type thing, and so much duty free.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
Frisky is going to Japan and Mannish is going to Canada. We're not breaking up, don't worry - it's just, there's only so many songs you can belt in people's faces before you need a holiday. But Frisky gets travel sick and Mannish is scared of falling in the sea, so it will be a nightmare before it is a dream.
Frisky and Mannish bring their show CabaRIOT to the Auckland Live International Cabaret Season September 28-October 2 at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall. For more information visit aucklandlive.co.nz.
