I'd be shooting pictures. If not, I'm chillin' with my family doing some kind of adventure together.
If we could teleport you to a place in New Zealand for a week's holiday, where would you choose to go?
It would probably have to have a nice wave to photograph, hopefully a shore break. I would love to see what the New Zealand waves are like, including water colour, lighting, shapes and the surrounding scenery. If it wasn't a wave trip, I have also heard about the great hikes, so I would find some epic routes and explore the outdoors.
How about internationally?
I have seen some incredible photos of Australia's shore breaks and the long stretches of empty beaches. Stop by the Great Barrier Reef and do some snorkelling while I am there.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
My wife and I went to Brazil for an art exhibition and bought the cheapest flights. We didn't really look at the itinerary and had no idea we would be flying or in airports forever. It must have been a day and a half. It was brutal. I now make sure I get on a fast plane.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...
My camera with water housings. These days it is also my iPhone. I love Instagram and with more than a million followers on my feed, I try to keep the photos going every day.
What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
Get to the airport early. It can be the most stressful part of a trip if you are rushing to get there. When I am at the airport early, it is super relaxing and a great feeling.
What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
At a chicken restaurant in Japan, a friend and I ordered the "chicken assortment ". Out came about eight dishes. I was starving so I just ate away. The first tasted just like chicken but the shapes and tastes started to change and become a bit weird. Things got real crunchy at about the sixth dish. The next one was the feet ... It turned out to be all parts of a chicken except the white meat. We didn't touch the last dish.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
It has to be photos. Sometimes it is the snacks you can buy at the airport to take back with you.
Favourite airport to land at (apart from "home")?
San Diego. Comes right into the city. It is considered one of the United States' most dangerous to take off from and land in.
