Keeping busy. I'm not very good at doing nothing. I love surfing, although I haven't spent much time in the water in the past year.
If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
Shipwreck Bay. Good surfing. What more could a man ask for?
How about for a dream holiday internationally?
Cuba, Costa Rica, Nicaragua. Central America is next on my list. (Antarctica is also on the bucket list.)
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
Buying ammunition out of a little Bambi shack in Cambodia then hopping on the back of a scooter to go to a firing range with a backpack full of bullets.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
Always travel with Imodium.
What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
Raw fish in Tahiti. We caught the fish, climbed the coconut tree and picked the coriander, lime and chilli. It was amazing.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
My antique elephant bell from Sri Lanka. It has amazing memories associated with it.
Favourite airport to land at?
Gisborne. You get to check out the surf as you come in and it's the only airport in the world where train tracks go over it.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
Murchison Mountains later on in the year. We're going to help rebuild some DoC huts in order to help the takahe recovery programme.
