The holiday that ended before it began: on our honeymoon, we got to the airport only to be told my husband's passport, which had gone through the wash in his trouser pocket, was too waterlogged and "You won't be flying today". On the way to get the emergency passport, we dinged the car. We flew a couple of days later, a few hundred dollars lighter.
If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?
Exploring, swimming, being active and getting amongst whatever is on offer. I love to feel like I really get to know a place while on holiday, so I'm the expedition planning nerd of the family.
If we could teleport you to one place in NZ for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
We're about to visit Queenstown, which will be a first for everyone in my family but me, and I can't wait to watch them all be amazed by how stunning it is and how much it has to offer.
How about for a dream holiday internationally?
We took our first family trip to Fiji last year and everyone can't wait to go back. The people are as beautiful and warm as the weather, the service and setting is incredible ... it's so easy to get to and good value too - genius.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
Ended up in an Italian hospital not realising I didn't just "feel sick", I was in need of an IV line.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...
My family. I'm a wuss, I know. Also wet wipes. I managed, though, being away in Fiji with only Flynny and our co-workers for three days but had to distract myself with poolside cocktails and such.
What's the best travel tip you've ever had?
For long-haul flights with kids, remember it's just one day of your life.
Favourite airport at which to land?
Singapore or Hong Kong, love those short-stay hotels inside the airport.
