Probably eating the grammatically correct amount of eggs. Or other food. Sorry, I'm still really angry about those Melbourne "eggs".
If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
Timaru. To see my family and beautiful Caroline Bay. It's also got a new dairy.
How about for a dream holiday internationally?
Everywhere. I'm keen to hit Italy next though. I love old buildings and carbs.
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
I forgot about losing a day when crossing the dateline. I thought I had booked us two nights in a fancy hotel in Hong Kong. When I arrived the guy told me I had only one night booked so I immediately booked another night. What he didn't tell me, was that we had missed the first night. So we ended up staying for one night, but paying for three. Surprisingly, this didn't make me nearly as angry as only getting one egg after ordering the the plural form of "eggs" in Melbourne.
Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...

Pack clothes. They are good insulation against the cold and in some countries being naked will get you clipped around the ear or on the genitals. It's just not worth it.
What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
A cassoulet near Carcassonne, in France. I really didn't think I was going to like it. Stew? Gross. Wrong! Delicious. Je suis un idiot.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
Memories. As well as photos. They help because my memory is not what it used to be.
Favourite airport to land at?
Richard Pearse airport in Timaru. Not only does it evoke wonderful images of one of our country's most inventive pioneers, the pilot of the plane also guides people across the tarmac, helps them with their bags and then pops the kettle on for a cuppa.
What's the next trip you've got planned?
A tour around the country with the 7 Days team. You should come see us. I'll be ordering breakfast at your local cafe and keeping a careful eye on the egg count.
Josh Thomson appears in the 200th episode of 7 Days, Friday, 9.30pm, on TV3.
