The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival on June 19 celebrates winter in a spectacular and entertaining fashion in the heart of the city.
A winter market is followed by the main event, the lantern parade or Procession of Light.
Public lantern-making workshops are held over the three weekends before the carnival to ensure maximum participation.
Giant lanterns, processional drumming and a fireworks display add to the excitement.
This year there'll be a ceilidh in the Lower Octagon, so get ready to dispel those winter blues, light up your winter and dance your socks off.
