Savour traditional Maori foods and learn about Maori arts and crafts - from bone, wood and stone carving to flax weaving, tattooing and natural remedies - at the Tuku Wairua Cultural Festival and the first traditional Kai Maori (food festival).
The celebrations are on until Saturday, March 29 at the Tuku Wairua Centre in Kaitaia. The Maori Women's Welfare League of Northland will prepare Maori foods with seafood, kumara, native fruits and make traditional breads. Open daily, except Sundays, from 9am to 5pm, entry to the Tuku Wairua Centre is free.
