New Zealand travellers to Asia will have the chance to win free trips on flights to Bangkok as airlines battle to recover from the Sars-induced slump in tourism.
Two airlines have announced they will give away a total of 30,000 tickets to promote travel.
Thai International is offering 20,000 free tickets and Cathay Pacific 10,000 tickets.
Of the Thai International tickets, around 200 will be for flights between New Zealand and Thailand. One ticket will be drawn on each flight for the Luck is in the Air campaign, which runs between now and September 30.
The prize will be a return ticket on the same route and class of travel that the winner is travelling, for use between April 1 and June 30 next year.
A further 4000 free tickets will be won by passengers on outbound international flights from Bangkok and on domestic flights in Thailand.
With Hong Kong now off the World Health Organisation's list of Sars-affected countries, Cathay Pacific said it would resume its pre-Sars flight schedule by September 30.
Its 10,000 free tickets will be distributed as competition prizes for Hong Kong Tourist Board promotions.
