Auckland's inner-city Albert Park will fill with a magical display of lanterns for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Asia 2000 Foundation's annual Lantern Festival runs from 5 pm to 10.30 pm on March 1 to 3, as a finale for the New Year celebrations.
The Year of the Horse festival features lanterns from Haining and Singapore, a puppet and musician troupe from China, lion dancers from Singapore, local dancers, martial arts experts and stilt walkers, plus fireworks displays and fortune telling.
Visitors can sample traditional food and crafts, and vote for the best lantern. On the final day, the Singapore T'ang Quartet will perform for a picnic in the park.
