Head out west on Sunday on a steam train full of literati. The Occidental Tourist, part of the annual Going West Books and Writers festival, was inspired by the Maurice Gee train journey described in his book Going West. This year, Gee reads from his novel Live Bodies at the Little Chapel in the Oaks, near Waikumete Cemetery. Other stops will feature musician Linn Lorkin and poet Kapka Kassabova.The train leaves Auckland central at 9.30 am and returns at 5.30 pm.
