Mention glow-worms, and Waitomo probably comes to mind. Down south, Fiordland has its share of the magical incandescent light made by these delicate cave-dwelling creatures.
Evening tours of the 12,000-year-old Te Anau Glow-worm Caves are from 8.15 pm to 10.45 pm, and cost $51 for adults and $15 for children.
The trip includes a pre-tour scenic lake cruise and visit to Cavern House, where guides explain the history, development and operation of the caves.
