To have diamantiferous potential is a wonderful quality for a country. Quebec, in Canada, has that potential, with enormous amounts of natural diamond deposits.
To celebrate, Quebec's Musee de la Civilisation has a dazzling exhibition of 44 objects, from precious stones and diamond-encrusted jewellery to geological specimens.
Running until next January 6, the collection includes priceless objects, on loan from private and public collections in Canada, America and Europe. Some of the jewellery is signed by Tiffany and Cartier and was once worn by historical figures, celebrities or well-known business personalities.
Admission fees are $11 for adults, $3.15 for 12- to 16-year-olds, and there is no charge for children under 12. The museum can be found at 85 Rue Dalhousie in Quebec.
