The vineyards, restaurants and gardens of South Australia's famed Barossa Valley are alive to the sounds of jazz the weekend of August 17 and 18.
A feature musician is the Australian jazz icon, Vince Jones. He will entertain with three cabaret shows staged in the historic Saltram Winery while another Vince - Chef Vince Trotta - will turn up the heat in the kitchen to prepare a feast fit for the jazz king he is.
Other developments in the Barossa include a new tasting room and restaurant at Jacob's Creek Visitors' Centre. A full range of Jacob's Creek and Orlando wines is available for tasting, while a gallery informs visitors of the area's winemaking history and modern-day viticulture and winemaking techniques.
The Barossa, 45 minutes by car from Adelaide, hosts a range of events, including the Barossa Under the Stars music and wine festival in February and the biannual week-long Barossa Vintage Festival, staged the week after Easter.
Australia's richest and best known viticultural and winemaking region, the Barossa is a lively rural community first settled more than 150 years ago.
The quaint tree-lined villages feature a range of cafes, bookstores, art galleries and bed and breakfast accommodation in faithfully restored stone buildings.
