The seemingly mysterious world of family life in Japan is open to New Zealanders who like the idea of staying with local families in an alpine village.
New Zealand tour guide Ann Matheson spent 10 years living and travelling in Japan and speaks the language fluently. She will take up to 18 New Zealanders this November for a 12-night tour which concentrates on experiencing "true, Japanese country-style living."
The tour, timed for the height of autumn's colours, is priced from $NZ4995 and leaves from Auckland. Connecting flights from Wellington and Christchurch are at no extra cost. Breakfasts and five dinners are included.
