Jackson Bay: End of the West Coast road
About 140 years ago there were high hopes for the establishment of a thriving fishing and forestry town at Jackson Bay. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1875 but the promised wharf that was integral to the town's future wasn't built until 1937, by which time most of the settlers had abandoned it.
