Sylvie Clement graduated from the International Concierge Institute in April 1998 and since then has been on the concierge desk at the Chateau Laurier, strategically located to take best advantage of many of Ottawa's attractions.
As best free attraction, Clement recommends Parliament Buildings, the National Gallery and Byward Market, all within short walking distance of the hotel.
For the best paid attraction, she suggests crossing the Ottawa River to the neighbouring city of Hull and the Canadian Museum of Civilisation, where features include aboriginal community displays in the grand hall, a walk through 1000 years of settlement in Canada and the lively Children's Museum. She also recommends the Royal Canadian Mint.
As best restaurant, Clement offers the Laurier's own Wilfrid's for fine dining. For French menus she suggests Le Verlan and Le Panache, and for Italian, the Allegro.
