The concierge recommends: Anaheim

Elia Duran started working at the Sheraton Anaheim in Orange County, California, in her last year at high school. Twelve years later she is still there and, after working in other parts of the hotel, has taken on the role of concierge.

Duran, born and raised in California, says she loves her latest job and revels in meeting people from all around the world.

For the best free attraction in Southern California, Duran recommends a stroll around the Disneyland hotel complex with its dancing water shows each evening. The Buena Park Mall is also good for window-shopping.

Disneyland is top of her list for the best paid attraction. But also worth doing, she says is a tour which includes visiting downtown Los Angeles, spotting movie stars' homes in Beverly Hills and finishing up at Universal Studios.

And the best restaurant? Duran says the White House is tops for fine dining and offers a complimentary limousine pick-up service.
