Yuppy skiers are getting a taste of Fiji and the warmth of the South Pacific on the skifields of Aspen, Colorado. The favourite beverage among the fur-coated set is Fiji Natural Artesian Water with its tropical-flavoured label.
The water, the most readily available bottled water in Fiji, comes from an aquifer several hundred metres beneath the island and, it is alleged, may be from rain that fell on Viti Levu 450 years ago.
Even more amazing is the marketing in the United States by the water company's founder, David Gilmour, a millionaire businessman who started the Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation, Barrick Gold Company and the exclusive Wakaya Club that boasts the likes of Bill Gates and Jim Carrey among its guests.
Fiji Water has got huge media exposure in the United States and several food writers have given it top ranking among the 600 bottled waters on sale.
