Budget-conscious Sandra Gustafson says she visited every hotel and shop included in this guide to make sure they made the cut for the ninth edition.

This Californian woman is someone who believes it is a sin to pay full retail price for anything. Like all good shoppers though, she allows herself one indulgence - for her it is a room at the four-star Hotel Le Saint-Gregoire - where it costs 1500F ($520) for a suite with a private terrace. Recommended.
