If you are planning to join the throngs at the Edinburgh International Festival next month, there is a lot more than just the Military Tattoo to get your adrenalin pumping.
Four world premieres and 20 British premieres are among 112 productions to take the stage between August 12 and September 1.
Among the celebrities performing will be the New York City Ballet, the Boston Symphony, conductors Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitlink and Charles Mackerras, and the St Petersburg Philharmonic.
Around the festival, other events devote themselves to film, jazz, books and children.
The best place to find out what is happening where and when is The Hub, a converted 1840s church at Castlehill on the Royal Mile. Open all year, it is the information point and ticketing centre for the festival and many other events in Edinburgh.
