Walk the winterless north
The Doubtless Bay Walking Weekend on May 3-4 offers 10 guided walks ranging from easy to challenging. The programme includes a walk to Karikari Beach, with a tour of Carrington Estate Winery and lunch, a walk along the Heritage Trail in Mangonui village, and a hike from Totara North to Lane Cove, returning by boat. Roar of the classics

Cricketing nostalgia
If the sound of leather on willow sets your pulses racing, get a post-season fix at the New Zealand Cricket Museum at the Basin Reserve, Wellington. It's open daily 10.30am- 3.30pm until April 30, then from May 1 to October 31 it's open Saturday and Sunday 10.30am-3.30pm. Admission is $5 (adults), $2 (students), under 12 free if accompanied by an adult.
