Hunt for hobbits

Get into the Lord of the Rings spirit with a visit to Hobbiton, near Matamata.

Daily tours are available to the original Hobbiton village set.

Although it has been returned to its original state, hobbit holes and some structures are still evident.

The tour starts with a drive through a working sheep farm. A free courtesy van departs from the Matamata Visitor Centre.
