Day trippers who fall for the charm of a 110-year-old homestead in Victoria's Macedon Ranges can sample the owners' wines, enjoy lunch in the estate's restaurant, or even stay the night.
Restored by winemakers Keith and Lynette Brien, Cleveland Winery and Homestead is on a 4ha estate at Lancefield - about an hour's drive north of Melbourne.
The Briens produce limited-release table wines and the restaurant takes its cue from Provence. Bed and breakfast on a Friday or Saturday is $A160 ($192) a couple.
