Homestead gems

Browse through themed rooms of an early New Zealand homestead, complete with sports and trophy room and a military room, then picnic in a picturesque setting at the McNicol Homestead and Museum in Clevedon.

A 35-minute drive from central Auckland, the two-storey homestead, built in 1878, is open from noon to 5pm on Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays.

Set in the Clevedon Valley, it is close to Clevedon's village, wineries, craft galleries and beaches.
