The Herald Online's Travel section has been relaunched to comprise 9 destination regions covering the world - plus Business Travel.
Michael Te Young, Travel Product Manager for Wilson and Horton Interactive, said this would provide a far more flexible platform on which to categorise content and offer special deals for readers. It would also create greater opportunities for specific sponsorship.
"Currently we have two major airline partners onboard - Air New Zealand on the New Zealand destinations page, and United Airlines on the Americas page," he said. "Both airlines have placed their booking engines on our Travel site."
Herald Online readers can now check flight arrivals and departures, as well as search for and book airfares online.
"The value to our readers comes from having a site that allows them to 'keep their finger on the pulse' when they are considering travel. We are targeting repeat visits by having a sufficient range of deals, products and content which changes every day," said Mr Te Young.
"Our philosophy is that if the service is useful to consumers then it becomes valuable to advertisers too."
