Peruvian cultural history will be protected for generations to come by a decree issued by the Peruvian Government. The long list of detailed regulations is designed to protect the infamous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
The trek has attracted more visitors than any other place in South America for at least 20 years. The regulations will ensure that no one can trek without a licensed operator or guide.
There are numerous companies offering guided treks in the Andes, including a New Zealand-based company, World Expeditions.Contact: World Expeditions, freephone 0800 350 354, e-mail enquiries@worldexpeditions.co.nz
