Guide to the best wine in Hawke's Bay

The latest Hawke's Bay Wine Country Food Trail brochure pinpoints 75 destinations worth stopping for.

Slim-line and not much bigger than a chequebook, this colourful brochure is not short on useful information, and is a must for the glovebox if you're heading for Hawkes Bay.

The food trail is an easy-to-decipher road map directing you to food-related businesses from Mahia to Dannevirke. All specialise in Hawkes Bay epicurean products, whether they be farm gate shops selling fresh seasonal produce or artisan and value-added food products.

Restaurants, cafes and wineries that use local produce are also part of the map, and the little number they are given on the map corresponds with the number you will find on their entrance, signage or gate.

The brochure also lists upcoming wine and food events in the Hawkes Bay, through to mid-February 2002, along with road travel times to the region from places such as Auckland, Wellington, Taupo and Rotorua.
