Upmarket accommodation at prices lower than many mid-range hotels is the speciality of Uptown Reservations, a London-based bed-and-breakfast organisation.
Guests can choose to sleep in Lord Byron's bed, while staying in a diplomat's home overlooking the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, or a Georgian home filled with an eclectic mix of modern and antique furniture near Kings Rd.
All the homes have private bathroom facilities and are close to parks, main shopping streets and historic landmarks. They are priced from $209 a night, single, or $274 a night, double or twin. Continental breakfasts are included.
