Bermuda Palms Plantation and Research in Gisborne offers a garden visit with a difference. Touted as "the first banana research plantation to greet the new day", the year-round ripening crops include varieties from Fiji, Samoa, Australia, Ecuador and Israel.
The plantation can be found at 11 Murphy Rd, Wainui Beach, Gisborne and is open on Saturdays only, from 9am to 4.30pm. Entry is a gold coin or $5 for a family. Groups can visit during the week by arrangement.
