Building a boat at the National Maritime Museum in Auckland is one of the more ambitious projects on offer in the school holidays. A model-sized boat, that is.
The two-day session is on September 23 and 24 from 9am to noon, and again the following Monday and Tuesday.
The museum is also entertaining young mariners with a day's fishing, on September 25 and October 2, aboard the Ted Ashby sailing ship, with rods and bait provided. This adventure is aimed at 8- to 12-year-olds and early booking is recommended. Blackbeard the Pirate or Spangles will be on story-telling duty.
