French festivity for harbour village

Vive la France, in Akaroa at least. The Akaroa French Fest, celebrating the French landing in Akaroa in 1840, will be held on Saturday, January 26. Locals and visitors have celebrated the heritage and charm of the Banks Peninsula seaside village 85km from Christchurch for more than a decade.
