Retired Tuakau postmaster Leo Bean is the lucky winner of Travel's Canadian Rockies holiday competition.
Mr Bean, aged 72, and his wife Eileen, 65, will travel to the Rockies courtesy of Travel in the New Zealand Herald, Air New Zealand, Canadian Airlines International, Brewster Tours and the Canadian Tourism Commission.
"This has made our day and our year," said Mr Bean, who spent 37 years in the postal service and 10 years as the postmaster at Tuakau. "Canada is the one place that my wife has always wanted to go and see."
The Bean's winning entry was drawn from two packed mailbags of entries from Travel readers.
The response to our request for travel tripsters has also been overwhelming. Thank you to all who volunteered to pass on travel tips to other Herald readers. Once the suitable candidates are selected we will notify all those who responded, whether or not they make the selection.
From time to time tripsters of similar experience will be asked their advice on specific subjects and the responses will be used as the basis for a story written by a Herald journalist.
Foreign posting for lucky Herald reader
