My seat: 14D, a standard Economy Class aisle seat, which felt quite rigid, with not much padding in the headrest. But it was totally fine for such a short flight.
Fellow passengers: A mixed bag of international tourists as well as Thai locals.
How full: There were quite a few empty seats, so people could spread out. I was in a full row and did think about moving to give the couple next to me a bit more room . . . but they seemed pretty happy to snuggle up and once settled, I couldn't be bothered to relocate.
Entertainment: Nothing except an in-flight magazine. I listened to podcasts and watched Netflix episodes downloaded to my phone.
The service: Fine. The staff were well-presented and friendly, but they didn't have a great deal of interaction with passengers on this short route.
Food and drink: All passengers got a meal, including special meals for vegetarians and those with other dietary requirements. The standard meal was a chicken curry with green beans and rice, followed by a dense chunk of apple and cinnamon cake. I was suffering the after-effects of final night of holiday celebrations the night before, so was in need of some sustenance. This meal did the trick.
The toilets: I didn't use them.
Luggage: Economy Class passengers are allowed 20kg of checked baggage and 5kg of hand luggage. My hand luggage was not weighed.
The airport experience: Chiang Mai airport is a decent hub serving this busy tourist city.
All luggage is scanned on entrance to the domestic terminal, before checking in. There are many food options, including local chains like Cafe Amazon, and behemoths like Starbucks. Dehydrated, I twice made use of the cold pressed juice stand, and seriously contemplated getting a 30-minute foot massage at one of the airport's two spas, but juice and snack took the last of my cash.
The bottom line: A great domestic service from an airline that prides itself on its "boutique" service.
