A Monday to Friday air service has begun between Kaitaia and Auckland.
Air Kaitaia will use a twin-engined Piper Aztec, seating five passengers.
There are two flights each day. A morning flight leaves Auckland at 5 and returns at 7. The afternoon service leaves Auckland at 4.30 and returns from Kaitaia at 6.
The service will give the Far North direct access to international flights.
The fare is $99 one way and $255 return.
Air Kaitaia is a subsidiary of the tourism award-winning air service Mountain Air, which operates between Auckland and Turangi, Mt Ruapehu, Great Barrier Island and Whangarei.
