ARLINGTON, Virginia. - US Airways says it will resume flights out of Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport on Thursday (US time), more than three weeks after the September 11 attacks on the US shuttered one of its major hubs.
US Airways said its shuttle service will resume flights to New York, Boston and Pittsburgh. It expects the initial four round trips to New York and Boston to increase to eight round trips next week. Pittsburgh service also begins next Monday.
Reagan National has been closed since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon due to security concerns.
The Bush administration said today it would allow limited flights to operate out of the airport with tight restrictions to guard against attacks on landmark buildings.
Delta Air Lines and United Airlines also said that they would start limited service from National on Thursday.
