World-famous and for good reason, Pakiri Beach Horse Rides offer a variety of treks that take you over the expansive white sands of Pakiri, across dunes and through native bush. Some rides travel through forest, farmland and lakes. There's a cafe and even accommodation if you want to make a weekend of it.

2. Horse Riding Warkworth

Trek over farmland and through forest on a horse to suit your age and ability. Lessons also available. A great option for a group of friends or birthday outing.

Ride over a 121ha working farm and through Woodhill Forest, then soothe those aching muscles at Parakai's hot pools on the way home.

5. Wild West Trekkin'

Located on the picturesque Awhitu Peninsula, 70 minutes from Auckland's CBD. Wind down through gullies of ancient pohutukawa, over a working beef farm and out on to a secluded 3km stretch of sparkling black sand beach, with views across the Manukau bar to Whatipu. Morning or afternoon tea is provided before the return journey.
