The Research Trip from Intrepid promises to take diehard adventurers to far-flung pockets of Asia that are undiscovered and unmapped.

The company says the concept allows "guinea pig" travellers to get in on the first level of ground-breaking adventure.

The one-off trips have never been done by the company before and plans may prove unpredictable. Intrepid's first Research Trip to Sri Lanka leaves on February 3, 2001 and costs $1460 a person.
