First-time classic fun run in Devonport

They're calling it the Devonport Classic Fun Run - but this Sunday's jog around the seaside suburb is the inaugural event.

The course takes a scenic route over 10km through Devonport and the New Zealand Navy tunnel, which is opening to the public for the first time. There is also a 5km course and a "short walk" for those with less stamina.

Walk the course from 9am, or join the run at 9.30am at the Navy sports ground at Ngataringa, Jim Titchener Parade. It costs $15 for an adult to take part and $25 for a family. Late entrants will be charged $2 extra and can register between 7.30am and 8.30am. Funds raised go to Stanley Bay Primary School.
