The Napier Solstice Fire Fest is a free family spectacular celebrating the winter solstice, the year's shortest day and heralding the sun's return to the Southern Hemisphere.
A lantern parade kicks off the event at 5pm on Saturday, followed by a smorgasbord of fiery entertainment including fire pois, Cook Island drummers, sizzling salsa and Celtic solstice music. There's a beach fire-sculpture party, dance performances, and a fireworks finale at 9pm.
Venue: the Soundshell, Marine Parade, Napier.
