World Expeditions has organised eight expeditions to visit cultural festivals in Ethiopia, Bhutan, Peru, India, Mongolia, Tibet and Japan.
The Tibet expedition coincides with the Saga Dawa Festival celebrating the birth of the Sakyamuni Buddha, when hundreds of Tibetans pay homage beneath the sacred mountain. This trip departs on May 24 and costs $8408 from Kathmandu.
A tour to Mongolia's Naadam Festival, departs on June 29; to the Pushkar Camel Fair in India departs on November 17; to the Inti Raymi Festival or Festival of the Sun in Peru departs on June 7; to Bhutan's Paro Festival departs on April 4; to Japan's Rice Festival departs on June 4; to Nepal's Mani Rimdu Festival, departs in November; and to the feast of Timkat in Ethiopia, departs on January 6, 2002.
