The philanthropically focused tour company World Expeditions is heading for the Andes, and for every traveller who goes, the company will give $1000 towards research into New Zealand's rare Hector's dolphin.
WWF (formerly the World Wildlife Fund) is running a research and conservation programme that concentrates on the world's smallest dolphin and the Chatham albatross. Through Wilderness Magazine, World Expeditions has pledged to donate up to $16,000 towards the marine programme.
The Escape to the Andes tour costs $7899 a person, all-inclusive. It leaves on September 8 next year, returning on October 1, with a limit of 16 people.
